Virtual Law Firm
Virtual legal services offer a different approach to hiring a lawyer. Very suitable for uncontested divorces, simple wills, power of attorney documents and simple contracts, virtual services allow the client to have a licensed attorney prepare documents and answer questions, via email or telephone. Virtual legal services are available any where in South Carolina. So whether your divorce is in Anderson, Allendale, Charleston, Greenville, Rock Hill or any other South Carolina county, you can afford legal advice! Contact M. J. Goodwin today for your virtual legal needs.
Goodwin & Pruette, Attorneys at Law, LLC, has established a virtual law practice to assist self-represented or pro se litigants in South Carolina’s Family Court, as well as other South Carolina Courts, with legal documents, advice and research. Utilizing this option allows a client to represent him or herself in court, with the knowledge that the documents being used have been drafted and reviewed by an experienced Family Law practitioner. This option is not a legal form website. My virtual law office provides direct, one on one communication, between M. J. Goodwin, the attorney, and the client. All documents are customized for the individual circumstances and go far beyond what is offered by the legal “form generating” websites. Online clients do not meet with M.J. Goodwin in the office, but rather, communicate with her only via the internet.
Monetary savings are the biggest advantage to hiring a lawyer virtually. For example, in a traditional representation arrangement, an uncontested divorce can cost in excess of $1000. Many firms in the Upstate South Carolina area charge a minimum of $1500 for any type of case. With Goodwin & Pruette, Attorneys at Law, LLC, the legal fee for a virtual uncontested divorce packet is $350.
Another advantage to virtual legal services is the flexibility offered. The client does not have to spend time away from work or family obligations to come to appointments. The attorney can answer questions easily, from anywhere there is an internet connection.
Virtual services are different from form generating websites, like Legal Zoom ™, because the client has access to an actual, licensed attorney. Questions are answered via email or phone.
The client attends all hearings as a self represented litigant. For this reason, virtual services are not appropriate for contested matters. The client pays the filing fees and the costs for service of process separately.
Goodwin & Pruette, Attorneys at Law, LLC, offers both virtual and traditional representation arrangements in the areas of family law, criminal defense, car wreck cases, personal injury cases and equine law. We have two lawyers and one paralegal ready to assist you with your legal needs.
